The stump grinding machine is 75cm wide, 2.5 meters long, and weighs 680kg. It is capable of reaching some pretty tight spots.

Things to consider:

  • Steps

  • Raised garden beds

  • Crossing over a wooden deck

  • Tight corners

  • Space for cutting wheel to operate

Underground Services

It is required to check the location of underground services before grinding out a tree stump as they can quickly cause major damage. This can be done by either checking property plans, hiring a service locator, or pre digging to check the area is clear. It is also possible to check by seeing where the roadside connection markers are in relation to the connections on your house. In this instance it is All Care and No Responsibility on the part of NCSG and we’ll use our own discretion as to how deep it will be safe to grind.

Services to locate

  • Power

  • Water & Storm water

  • Fibre broadband cable

  • Irrigation lines

Grinding the Stump

Prepping the grinding site

  • Remove any landscaping stones/gravel

  • Remove weed matting

  • Remove or mark irrigation lines

NCSG can do this but doing it yourself will help get your stump gone faster and will lower the total cost of the job.

Once the machine is in place, protective boards and screens will be set up as necessary to protect surrounding plants and any nearby structures of flying debris. The machine has a fast spinning wheel that chews through the stump turning into small wood chips that can either be used to refill the hole or spread on other parts of the garden as mulch.
